SACRAMENTO – Today, Assemblymember Cristina Garcia (D-Bell Gardens) endorsed California State Senate candidate Angelique Ashby to represent Senate District 8.
“I am proud to personally endorse Angelique Ashby, who is also the Democratic Legislative Women’s Caucus endorsed candidate for Senate District 8,” said Assemblymember Cristina Garcia (D-Bell Gardens). “Angelique is a fighter, and I know as a senator she will be a vocal advocate for her constituents, as well as for issues of equity and women’s rights.”
“Assemblywoman Garcia is a legislative leader with an extensive track record of addressing gender inequities,” said Angelique Ashby. “It is an honor to have her endorsement and I look forward to taking part in the Legislature’s important work in this area.”
Ashby has also been endorsed the California Democratic Legislative Women’s Caucus and the National Women’s Political Caucus California, and a number of legislators including retiring State Senator Richard Pan, M.D., Senator Sydney Kamlager, and Assemblymembers Cecilia Aguiar-Curry, Rebecca Bauer-Kahan, Autumn Burke, Jim Cooper, and Susan Rubio.
Ashby currently represents Sacramento City Council District 1 and serves as Vice Mayor of the City of Sacramento. Senate District 8 includes the cities of Sacramento and Elk Grove, and most of Sacramento County.
