SACRAMENTO – Today, Assemblymember Blanca Rubio (D-Baldwin Park) endorsed California State Senate candidate Angelique Ashby to represent Senate District 8.
“I am excited to give Angelique Ashby my endorsement for Senate District 8,” said Assemblymember Blanca Rubio (D-Baldwin Park). “As moms, I know we share a passion for helping children and families, and I look forward to her voice joining us in the Legislature.”
“Assemblymember Rubio’s story is the story of the California dream,” said Angelique Ashby. “I am so honored to have her support and look forward to working with her to continue our efforts to advance the rights of children, women, families, students, and immigrants.”
Ashby has also been endorsed the California Democratic Legislative Women’s Caucus and the National Women’s Political Caucus California, and a number of legislators including retiring State Senator Richard Pan, M.D., Senator Sydney Kamlager, and Assemblymembers Jim Cooper, Cecilia Aguiar-Curry, Rebecca Bauer-Kahan, and Autumn Burke.
Ashby currently represents Sacramento City Council District 1 and serves as Vice Mayor of the City of Sacramento. Senate District 8 includes the cities of Sacramento and Elk Grove, and most of Sacramento County.
