SACRAMENTO – Today, the California Professional Firefighters announced their endorsement of Angelique Ashby for Senate District 8.
“Angelique has been a champion and partner of firefighters throughout her time in office, and we are proud to support her run for State Senate,” said Brian K. Rice, President of the California Professional Firefighters. “We know she will stand by us in the State Capitol, and will continue to fight for issues of importance to our members and working families throughout the state.”
California Professional Firefighters is the largest firefighter organization in the state, representing more than 30,000 front line firefighters in nearly 180 local affiliated unions. CPF is the State Council for the International Association of Fire Fighters, which represents some 300,000 professional firefighters nationwide.
“Time and time again, it’s firefighters who are on the front lines protecting Californians from catastrophic wildfires, and responding to COVID-19 medical emergencies,” said Angelique Ashby. “It is an honor to have their support as I continue to fight alongside them for our shared values.”
The California Professional Firefighters join a growing coalition of labor support for Ashby, who also has the endorsement of the State Building & Construction Trades Council of California, the California State Council of Laborers, the Sac-Sierra Building & Construction Trades Council, AFSCME Local 3299, and Teamsters Local 150.
Ashby currently represents Sacramento City Council District 1 and serves as Vice Mayor of the City of Sacramento. Senate District 8 includes the cities of Sacramento and Elk Grove, and most of Sacramento County.
