South Sacramento Councilmember Mai Vang Endorses Angelique Ashby for State Senate

SACRAMENTO – Today, Sacramento City Councilmember Mai Vang endorsed Angelique Ashby for State Senate.

“I’m proud to support Angelique Ashby for Senate District 8,” said Councilmember Vang. “As a former single mother who raised her family in low-income housing, Mayor Pro Tem Ashby understands on a personal level the struggle our South Sacramento families are facing. Her commitment to our families is unwavering. As a champion for women and children, I know we can count on her to deliver resources for families who need it most.”

Councilmember Vang made history in 2020 as the first Asian American woman elected to Sacramento City Council, as well as the first person of Hmong descent. “It’s an honor to have the support of Councilwoman Mai Vang, a fierce leader for her community,” said Angelique Ashby. “I look forward to continuing to fight with her for Sacramento families and communities.”

Ashby currently represents Sacramento City Council District 1 and serves as Vice Mayor of the City of Sacramento. Senate District 8 includes the cities of Sacramento and Elk Grove, and most of Sacramento County.
