SACRAMENTO – The State Building and Construction Trade Council of California (Building Trades) today endorsed Angelique Ashby for the District 8 State Senate seat.
“Angelique Ashby has a solid record of support and action on the economic issues that matter for working families in Sacramento and throughout the state,” said Andrew Meredith, President of the Building Trades. “We know she will continue the fight for good wages and benefits in the State Senate, as well as for policies that spur job creation.”
“The men and women in the Building Trades represent the backbone of our economy, which is why this endorsement is so important,” said Ashby. “I am honored to have their support.”
As the California affiliate of North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU), the California Building Trades has 157 affiliated unions from 14 different construction craft unions, 22 local building trades councils, and about 125 affiliated Joint Apprenticeship Training Committees (JATCs).
Ashby represents Sacramento City Council District 1 and serves as Vice Mayor of the City of Sacramento. Senate District 8 includes the cities of Sacramento and Elk Grove, and most of Sacramento County.
